PRIVACY
Site Gate privacy policy
Effective date: 16 October 2026 · Extension version: 1.0.1
This policy describes data handling by the Site Gate Chrome extension, published by beny-karachun.
Data handled on your device
Site Gate handles website addresses to apply your website access rules. It reads the addresses of open or loading tabs, compares their domains with your selected list, and redirects blocked tabs to a local extension page. The Add current website button uses the active tab address to obtain its domain.
The extension stores these settings on your device:
- The domains in your block list and allow list.
- The selected website control mode.
- The protection switch setting.
Settings are stored in chrome.storage.local. Chrome also stores the dynamic network rules that enforce your selected mode. The original address of a blocked page can appear in the local blocked page URL so you can identify the website and try it again after you change a rule. Chrome can retain page addresses according to your browser history settings.
How data is used
Website addresses and settings are used only to provide the website control features you select. Site Gate does not read website page content, passwords, messages, payment details, or form entries. It does not create a separate browsing history log.
Data transmission and sharing
The extension does not send your website addresses, lists, settings, or browsing activity to the developer, an external server, or a third party. It has no analytics, advertising, tracking, remote code, or external fonts. The developer does not receive access to your local extension data.
Site Gate does not sell user data, use it for advertising, or use it for credit or lending decisions. Data is used only for the extension's stated website control purpose. Site Gate's use of information received from Chrome APIs follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Permissions
- Storage: Saves your website lists and settings on your device.
- Declarative network requests: Applies website access rules to browser tab requests.
- Active tab: Supports the Add current website control.
- HTTP and HTTPS website access: Applies your rules to selected or unlisted websites and to open tabs.
Retention and your controls
Saved lists and settings remain on your device until you change or remove them, clear the extension's stored data, or uninstall Site Gate. You can remove individual domains, change modes, or pause protection from the extension panel. Uninstalling the extension removes its extension storage and network rules. Manage browser history separately in Chrome.
For private browsing, you must first enable Allow in Incognito in Chrome's extension details. Site Gate still applies your selected lists and settings.
